Meet our Sheep. He’s cute, cuddly and very lovable.

This Sheep is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches and standard knitting terms. Our Shep is knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 25m of medium weight yarn (one colour or a mix) for the body and 12 m of medium weight yarn for the head, ears and legs. With this yarn, use 4 mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face and stuffing (we use ecofil or wool. This will let you create a sheep that’s approximately 12cm (4.5 inches) from head to bottom.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
