This double-sided double knit hat uses Rik’s unique new double-knitting technique which allows you to EASILY be able to knit the two different designs simultaneously, something that would be agonizingly difficult using traditional double-knit techniques. It’s not quite as easy knitting in the round, but this hat was designed so there are only a couple of rounds that are more challenging. (The music notes are the first line from Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze.)

If you have never double-knitted before, I recommend doing a practice swatch before you start, but once you get the hang of it, it’s really not hard. If you can knit and purl, you can double knit! And this pattern will make all your friends think you’re some kind of knitting genius.
