The Sheepfold Socks celebrate British sheep breeds, and the Cotswolds’ long fibre farming history and association with the wool trade since the Middle Ages.
Worked cuff down, with a sheep ankle colourwork pattern, a slip-stitch heel and simple contrast colour toe. Choose two or three yarn colours.
Yarn, gauge and needles
Jacob Winter Sock (heavy 4ply/sport)
- Yardage: 90-100g (288-320m) main yarn and 20g (65m) for contrast.
- Gauge & needles: 28sts = 10cm on 2.5mm DPNs or circular needles.
Or
Corriedale Sock / standard 4ply sock yarn
Yardage: 80-90g (320-360m) main yarn and 16g (65m) for contrast.
Gauge & needles: 30sts = 10cm on 2.5mm DPNs or circular needles.
The pattern explains what size to cast on, depending on whether you’ve chosen Jacob Winter Sock (sport weight) or Corriedale Sock (or another typical 4ply sock yarn).
