Shekure's Spiral Socks
This pattern was inspired by Janine Hempy’s Stashbuster Spirals. I was intrigued by the technique for using leftovers, but I wanted to use four colors instead of three since I like to knit on a set of five DPNs. I also changed to a short row garter stitch toe and heel. I find these very comfortable, stretchy, and convenient (no picking up wrapped stitches!). Thank you, Janine, for a wonderful and inventive technique.
These socks can be made in any size and with any yarn. The pattern is more of a recipe - plug in gauge and size requirements for a custom sock.
Materials - yarn of choice in four colors (use up your scraps!) and a set of five double-pointed needles.
Difficulty - Intermediate. The pattern is a bit confusing to read, but the technique is a snap once you get started. Links for weaving in ends while knitting and how to work short rows included.
