Shell Pattern Mug Hug
So..there I was doing my favourite Sunday morning thing, a tray, a coffee pot, a cup, a jug of milk and my latest read. Perfect for a lazy morning, well more usually afternoon. But because I like to take my time and drink slowly my coffee was cold half-way down my cup. Brainwave, the cup cosy was born.
This style fits cylindrical mugs with straight sides. I’ve noticed from my own collection of these mugs that all seem to vary in size a bit, this one has been custom made to fit one of the larger mugs which measures 8.3cm/3.3in wide and 9.8cm/3 3/8 in high. This cosy will fit slightly bigger or smaller mugs, the buttons do up through the stitches of the flap, so it could be made smaller by simply doing up the buttons one row of stitches further round.
The cosy is worked back and forth using shell stitch and then the treble border and the strap is added on, no sewing though except the buttons.
