Shell Stitch Granny Square
This square is a modification of the traditional shell stitch worked int the round to have straight edges and a square shape (instead of a scalloped edge like other shell stitch squares) which makes it easy to join and create projects with a grid/modular construction.
The square is made from the center outward in 7 rounds.
This square of course works well for blankets whether used alone, paired with solid or traditional granny squares, or as part of a sampler style blanket. It can also be used to make other items like pillow covers, bags, accessories and more. The pattern is for the square only.
I provide yardage and hook size recommendations for the yarn listed in the pattern - Stylecraft Naturals DK organic cotton - but this pattern will work well for any medium weight yarn that has good stitch definition, so feel free to substitute with your preferred yarn or yarn from stash.
There is a video tutorial for this pattern available on my YouTube channel HERE and is also linked in the PDF pattern file.
The pattern makes a square that is roughly 4.75” x 4.75” (if using the recommended yarn or a similar DK weight yarn)
