Sherkin Island Shawl
Give any outfit some Irish flair with this uncomplicated shawl. Wide cables decorate its long edges, growing directly out of the ribbing to enclose a center panel of seed stitch. “Aran” knitting motifs and sweater styles spread all over Ireland in the twentieth century, and a women’s cooperative on Sherkin Island still makes and sells hand-loomed sweaters.
