Sherman Ranch Arm Warmers
An easy intro to knitting in the round or stranded colorwork, Sherman Ranch Arm Warmers are a great accessory for fall/winter, or just for keeping warm in the office. There’s no gusset to worry about, and if you’re hesitant about DPNs, don’t worry; you can easily knit these with a 9” circular needle! Also great as a last-minute gift!
One size: approximately 8” circumference and 7.5” length, blocked and unstretched. These are sized to fit over long sleeves in the winter. If you want to adjust the size, try swatching with a different needle and/or yarn.
Gauge is based on the 2-color chart pattern in Stockinette stitch, knit in the round and blocked. Remember to keep floats loose enough in the back to avoid puckering before and after blocking.
Materials: US size 8/5.0mm needle, either a 9” circular or DPNs, one stitch marker, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Yarn: Approximately 75 yards of 3 highly contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn will be enough to knit a pair of arm warmers. Sample shown used Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok in colors October Sky (blue), Golden Meadow (yellow-green), and Grey Harbor (grey).
Notes: Chart is a multiple of 14 sts, so is not easily modified for a small circumference. If you need to adjust the circumference, I suggest swatching with a different needle and/or yarn. If using the suggested yarn, it will knit up at a variety of gauges and is lovely for colorwork.
