Sherry and Nigel
This pair was inspired by a skein of farm yarn from Avalon Springs Farm. All of the fiber is locally sourced, processed and milled. It has a lovely texture that is perfect for toys!
Sherry and Nigel are knit in the round from the bottom up. The arms are knit first and then set aside to be attached later. Next each leg is knit and then joined together to work the body. The arms are then joined before knitting the shoulders, neck and head. The ears, horns, and face are embroidered. The samples used safety eyes, but they can be embroidered if you prefer.

Yarn
For Sherry and Nigel - Farm Yarn from Avalon Springs Farm, sport weight, 325 yds/298 m. Samples used approximately 55 yds/50 m.
Needles
US size 1/2.25 mm, or size needed to obtain gauge below. You’ll need two sets of double pointed needles (one set for knitting and one for holding stitches).
Gauge - 7 sts by 9.5 rows over 1”/2.5 cm lightly stuffed. Make sure your fabric is tight enough so the stuffing doesn’t show through when stuffed at this gauge. I recommend at least two to three sizes smaller than the recommended needle size for your yarn.
Miscellaneous - darning needle for weaving in ends; about .25 oz/7 g of wool stuffing (or stuffing of your choice); scraps of blue, yellow, grey, and black fingering weight yarn or embroidery floss for ears, horns, nose and mouth; pair of 5 or 6 mm black safety eyes (or black fingering weight yarn or embroidery floss for embroidered eyes); scraps of white and brown felt if using safety eyes; 5.5”/14 cm square of fabric for the scarves (one square makes 2 scarves), the samples used quilting cotton.
