Sherwood Hat
Construction: Sherwood is an all-over cabled beanie knit in the round with fingering weight wool. Sherwood is a lightweight knit hat, perfect for mid-season weather.
Skill level: Intermediate
Skills needed: Knitting in the round, basic cabling, twisting stitches, and decreasing.
Size: Small, (Medium, Large)
Circumference: 15” (16 ½”, 18”) unstretched, stretches to fit up to 21”, (23”, 25”)
Height: 8”, (8 ½”, 9 ¼”)
Gauge: 32 sts by 40 rows in body of hat pattern, knit in the round on larger needles
OR 18 sts and 22 rows per 4” in stockinette stitch knit flat on larger needles
Materials:

US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” circular and set of double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge

US 3 (3.25 mm) 16” circular or 2 sizes smaller than gauge needle

180 (210, 240) yards of fingering weight wool or wool blend yarn. Shown in: Neighborhood Fiber Co.’s Rustic Fingering (Charles Center - light gray), 1 skein (475 yards), 100% merino, and Knit Picks’ Gloss Fingering (Burgundy), 1 skein (220 yards), 70% merino and 30% silk
