Shet Ahad - The seven sisters
..is a narrow, beaded scarf basically designed for tribal dancers as a tieing band, headband or bun cover.
The design is based on Assuit cloth. Whilde fiddleing around with the charts I came up with the symbol in repeat 2 which reminded me of tuareg symbols I had seen. I googled but could not find the symbol- but I picked a phrase from the Berber language as a name: The Shet Ahad is the Berber name for „ the seven sisters“- the pleiads. Since the pattern has seven little diamonds it seemed fitting.
The second design is based on the moon cross, which acts as a protective symbol (with the crescents showing outwards) and depicts the four phases of the moon. It felt right considering nomads like the berber tribes always had a strong connection to sun, moon and stars.
