Shetland Cardigan
An all-over Shetland design for a woman or girl, using alternating bands of dark pattern on a light background and light pattern on a dark background. Although colours used in Shetland knitting are generally subdued, traditionally one strong colour may be introduced into a pattern. The front band is worked separately and sewn on afterwards.
The cardigan is knitted in Shetland 2-ply Jumper Weight Wool, which is a 4 ply equivalent.

Please note, the yardage is an estimate! The yarn specified in the book doesn’t really exist anymore. Jamieson’s is the closest equivalent I could think of, as the book specifies a traditional Shetland 2 Ply Jumper Weight Wool - and the book only specifies the amount of yarn in balls and ounces, not metreage or yardage.
