The Shetland Herring Girls Tea Cosy Knitting Pattern is a wonderful knitting tribute to the women who worked at the harbour gutting herring.

These cosies at firmly set in the past and are a knitted snapshot of harbourside in Shetland from a bygone time when herring girls worked outside gutting fish.

The herring packer tea cosy is a lovely tea cosy of a herring girl stood next to a barrel with a silver herring in her hands; another one for the barrel whilst the other herring girl is carrying a basket of fish that she is holding in one arm and balancing the basket on her hip.

The two cosies are very similar with only their working tools differing. They are wearing heavy duty aprons because gutting fish is a messy job, and on their heads they are wearing head scarves.

They both have a cat close by. I bet the local cat population loved hanging around the harbour with all those tasty fishes about.

The tea cosies is knitted with double thickness yarn to keep the teapot and the tea really hot.

The Shetland Herring Girls tea cosies fits a medium sized tea pot that covers a Teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups or 2 pints.

The pattern will be available for digital download as soon as you have completed purchase, so you could start knitting them, very soon!
