Shetland Lace Bonnet
The Shetland lace bonnet is a fitted lace baby and toddler bonnet for sizes Newborn-24 months.
Sizes:
Newborn, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months
Yarn:
New born size: Sport weight yarn 70 yards/63 m
6, 12 and 24 month sizes: DK weight yarn, 90 yds/82 m, 100 yds/91 m, 170 yds/155 m
18 month size: Worsted weight yarn 170 yds/155 m
Needles:
Newborn size:
US 4, 3.5 mm
US 3, 3 mm straight or circular needles
US 2, 2.75 mm DPNS
6, 12, and 24 month sizes:
US 6, 4 mm
US 5, 3.75 mm straight or circular needles
US 4, 3.5 mm DPNS
18 months size:
US 8, 5 mm,
US 7, 4.5 mm straight or circular needles
US 6, 4 mm DPNS.
Gauge:
Newborn: 7 stitches/inch, or 8 stitches/3 cm
6, 12, and 24 month: 6 stitches/inch, or 3 cm
18 month: 4 ½ stitches/inch, or about 4 1/2 stitches/ 3 cm.
Technique:
Worked flat.
