Different stitch patterns are worked across each row of this piece, keeping things interesting throughout with a variety of Shetland-inspired motifs playing across the whole design. A scalloped edging goes all the way around the shawl, and a border with alternating diamonds frames a body featuring diamond shapes filled with various stitch patterns.

The Shetland Mosaic shawl is knit tip up, starting with a tiny cast-on and building upward, before separating into two edges. Next, the border is built up and then the body emerges. Finally, a knitted-on edging is worked along the top of body and borders, eliminating the need to bind off.

This pattern is fully charted and not written out.
