I wanted to create a hat pattern that utilized traditional Fair Isle patterns and showcase our Fern Bridge Farm Maidenhair Fern 2-ply yarn. This is 100% Shetland wool from our flock in Vermont. We’re diligently working to reestablish Shetland ram lines that are dying out in the United States so that we can maintain and improve genetic diversity within the US flock.

Our Maidenhair Fern 2-ply is interchangeable with Jamieson & Smith and Jamieson of Shetland 2-ply jumper weight yarns if you are looking to use up some stash!
