Shi Shi Beach Cowl
One of my favorite things about living in Western Washington is spending time outside. I love hiking through the woods, surrounded by ferns. I love hiking down to a rocky, driftwood covered beach. I especially love hiking in the winter. And what’s better than a squishy brioche cowl for wintertime hiking? Starting with a two color i-cord cast on, waving ferns grow up the cowl. This quick knit looks stunning with high contrast yarns, or subtle and elegant with low contrast colors.
Techniques used are brioche knitting including increasing and decreasing, two color i-cord cast on and bind off.
Difficulty Level: Advanced
Size:
Yarn: Approx 30g worsted weight yarn in two different colors with good contrast. I used Wolstok in Golden Meadow (LC - Light Color) and Deep Velvet (DC - Dark Color) but any worsted yarn will work.
Needle: size 6 (4mm) and size 8 (5mm), 16” circular (highly recommended) or your preferred method for working in the round
Gauge: Gauge isn’t important for this project
Notions: 1 stitch marker for BOR, Cable needle, Tapestry needle
