Shibori Romance Scarf
By: Knitting on the Fringe
This gorgeous shibori scarf is knit with 4 skeins of Alchemy Yarns of Transformation Silken Straw and a feltable worsted weight yarn. The scarf is knit then felted. The effect is stunning- slightly ruched , lace paneled center with lightly ruffled edges- gorgeous!
Materials Yarn A- 2 skeins of Alchemy Yarns Silken Straw (We used Color 12w- Ocean Floor), Yarn B-2 skeins of Alchemy Yarns Silken Straw (We used Color 09m- Pewter), Yarn C- 100 yards feltable worsted weight yarn (We used Misty Alpaca Tonas Worsted Color 23)
Size 5 Needles- Double pointed and 32” circular or longer
Gauge: 6 rows per inch for I-cord- otherwise gauge not important.
Finished Size- Approx. 14” wide, 80” long (size will depend upon how long it is felted)
Shibori knitting is used by knitters to add shape, texture and dimension to felted objects by including non-felting fibers or inserting objects onto the fabric before felting so that parts of the piece felt and other parts don’t- in this case the feltable yarn felts and the silk does not.
