This stylish brioche beret showcases two color brioche in a seasonal cherry blossom pattern, incorporating Small and Large Arrowheads by Nancy Marchant from her “Knitting Fresh Brioche” book pages 154~155 and drawing inspiration from Nancy Marchant’s 2007 Tree Beret. Three cherry trees trail blossoming branches flowing top down from the crown with ever expanding and more glorious cherry blossoms finishing at the brim with ribbing and Latvian braid. The hat is worked top down in the round with brioche contrast color (CC) decrease shaping to keep each branch individual as it hangs down. This hat is intermediate-level brioche involving increases/decreases in CC rows and carrying two different MC yarns up the back of work at EOR.
This tam uses dk yarns with a thick and thin novelty yarn reminiscent of cherry blossom. Any dk weight mohair, boucle or ribboned novelty yarn may also be appropriate. For larger sizes use lightweight worsted and larger needles.
