The Canadian Shield is a geologic formation that covers a huge area of central and eastern Canada, including the town where I was born.
One of the prettiest components of the Canadian Shield in northern Ontario are the amethyst deposits. Amethyst was discovered during silver mining expeditions in the late 1800s and has been mined there ever since.
I love the colour purple – could it be because I have a geographic affinity to this semi-precious gem from my hometown? The multi-coloured hues of purple and gold and green amethyst are the inspiration for this cozy neck cowl.
Thank you to Hewetopia Fiber Art for yarn support on this pattern.
