Ear warmer/headband knitted in the round with a shield bug pattern.

Needles: 5 x 3mm double-pointed needles for rib, 5 x 3.5mm double-pointed needles. Tapestry needle.

Yarn: DK yarn – 1x 50g ball in your background colour, 1x 50g ball in the pattern colour, small amount of yarn for duplicate stitches (optional). The yarns used for the ear warmer pictured are from New Lanark Spinning Co. in New Natural, Natural Black and Woodland.

Gauge: 25 stitches and 32 rows to 10cm x 10cm

Measurements: When knitted as described, this ear warmer is 9 cm wide and 49 cm in circumference when unstretched.

Alterations: This ear warmer fits a head size of about 50 – 60cm. The size can be adjusted by going up or down a needle size, or by adding or removing a pattern repeat (about 5cm).
