One of my favorite shape shawls, this slim triangular profile shawl uses geometric shifts created with stockinette and garter stitch accents. This shawl can be dressed up and down depending on your choice of yarn to showcase. Bold rectangular forms stand out as the shifts take shape. Follow my formula or mix and match your own!

Pattern provides step by step instructions with picture graphics to help with the formula of pattern shifts. Can be customized to any size, but following the instructions will result in a shawl measuring 72” wide x 18” deep, when wet blocked.

The i-cord finish is optional, but it gives a finishes look to the perimeter of this shawl. The 2-color stripe of the i-cord pops on solid fabrics. Use contrasting yarn for a bold pop! Use Single colors of a complementary color or even the same color to create a stylish version of the Shifting Lanes Shawl.

This pattern includes links to commonly used methods for construction, which have been combined with this pattern to produce the product pictured.

Basic knowledge of the knit, purl and slip-stitch are required. I-cord instructions and helpful links are included.

This shawl is worked back and forth on needles. Make sure to use a long enough cord or straight needle to hold approximately 18”+ inches of stitched (widest at the middle).

I used a single skein of the Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool (227g/465yds) to complete this shawl. I had very little left over. I combined this with a small amount of contract yarn for the i-cord border.

I would love to see your creations and versions of my Shifting Lanes Shawl!
