Shifting Light utilizes one- and two-color linen stitch to create a sunset-like gradient as the piece moves from one color to the next. The simple pattern repeat makes it easy to personalize the shawl – try it with three or four colors instead of two (as pictured) or add more shifts for a larger finished piece. Choose your favorite variegated skeins and cast on to enjoy lovely textured color play and long, frilled ends.

Techniques: Linen stitch, increasing, decreasing, colorwork, picot bind-off

-Approximately 794 yards/197 grams fingering weight yarn in two colors. Color A (398yds/99g) and Color B (396yds/98g). Suggested yarn:
Long Dog Yarn (www.longdogyarn.com)
Color A: 1 skein Frou Frou Drink (400yds/100g)
Color B: 1 skein Popsicle Stand (400yds/100g)
-US Size 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles
-Tapestry needle and scissors
-Blocking mats and T-pins

Gauge: Approximately 7 stitches/inch in linen stitch (after blocking). Please keep in mind that linen stitch is tighter than standard stockinette or garter stitch.
