My home is in the Vale of York next to the River Ouse. It is a place of big skies and arable fields. In the Autumn, the wheat is cut and traditionally some of the straw would be woven into tokens to celebrate the harvest.
These mitts are my harvest token and designed to take you from the warmth of Summer to the chillier months of Autumn. They are generously sized and have long cuffs to keep out the draughts. The featured Wheaten rib pattern is the same as my Harvest Hike socks but these mitts are knitted in a cosy, cuddly, fluffy mohair/Shetland wool mix created by Annfield Farm in Scotland using wool from their own flock of goats.
Shifting Seasons are worked in the round. I use a set of four double pointed needles, but the pattern can be adapted for the magic loop method.

In my part of the world, the big woolly get together is Yarndale held in the third weekend of September in Skipton. This is where these mitts will get their first trip out. Maybe I’ll see you there?
