Shine Bright Shawl
Shine Bright Shawl is a crochet crescent-shaped shawl that encourages you to shine brightly in this world! This pattern is inspired by my daughter, who was diagnosed with Autism in March 2018, and from the beginning it has been our motto that we want to help her shine brightly in this world. Her name is “Elinor” which means “light of God,” and she has been light and joy in my life since the moment she was born. That doesn’t mean that we don’t have hard days, but we try to remember that light shines brightest in darkness.
As a neurodiverse family, we make it our goal to spread Autism Acceptance. What is Autism acceptance? “Autism Acceptance promotes acceptance and celebration of autistic people as family members, friends, classmates, co-workers, and community members making valuable contributions to our world. Autism is a natural variation of the human experience, and we can all create a world which values, includes, and celebrates all kinds of minds. In a nutshell, Autism Acceptance…is about treating autistic people with respect, listening to what we have to say about ourselves, and making us welcome in the world.” Source: https://www.autismacceptancemonth.com/about
