Materials
Yarn: You can use any soft yarn you like and hook to obtain gauge. I used DK yarn, about 100g needed.
Hook: the cowl on photo is made with hook 3.5mm (US E4/ UK 9). Hook 4.00mm (US G6/ UK 8) will also be OK.
