Shipshewana Headband
This lightweight headband is the perfect thing to work up with those adorable mini-skeins you’ve been coveting! It’s also a great way to use up leftovers from socks or other scraps. This can be worked in 2 colors (as shown) or with a single color.
Size: One size, to fit an average adult head (19” – 23”/48 – 58.5 cm).
Yarn: 115 yards/105 meters of sock weight yarn total; about 85 yards of main color and 30 yards of contrast color.
Sample shown in Wolfy Wool Wolftail 3-ply fingering colorway Berry Pie and Marianated Yarns Practicality sock weight colorway Hot Gossip.
Needles: Size US 4/3.5 mm straight needles (optional) and size US 3/3.25 mm circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge and one size smaller.
Gauge: 22 sts and 36 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needles.
Notions: Balloon (to block) and waste yarn (for provisional cast on).
Techniques: Provisional cast on, knitting in the round, drop stitches, grafting (Kitchener stitch) and picking up stitches.
