Shoal
Shoal is a design built directly into CustomFit, which means that each Shoal pattern is written specifically to your choice of gauge and size.
Shoal is part of the Winter/Spring 2015 CustomFit Basics Collection.
V-neck sweater vests make a perfect first dip into sweater knitting. They’re simple, practical, and look great on just about everyone. This one features a classic silhouette, a just-deep-enough neckline, and twisted 1×1 ribbed trim throughout. It’s shown in a close fit on Beth, but will look great no matter which fit you choose.
This sample was knit in Blue Sky Alpacas Extra, a super-luxe blend of alpaca and merino. It has exquisite stitch definition, a lovely heft, and comes in generously-sized hanks. I used the color “Fedora”, at a gauge of approximately 4.5 stitches per inch, and this 37″ (ish) sample used just under 2 hanks.
(One quick note on yardage in CustomFit patterns - the yardage requirements listed here are based on my preferred gauge for the recommended yarn. And while I’ve given approximate quantities for standard size sweaters, CustomFit will make your pattern in the size and gauge of your choice. It’s pretty tough to give yardage requirements for any possible combination! If you’re not using the recommended yarn, and/or you’re not a standard size, I recommend Hannah Fettig’s amazing app, stashbot, to get a sense of your yardage requirements.)
