Shoo Fly Drink Cover
Spring is almost here and the gnats and flies will be buzzing around, looking for your beverage to land in. It never fails, you get into that comfy chair and go to sip your coffee or iced tea and find an unwelcome visitor. This is a solution to that problem, and you can choose your favorite colors or combination to make a topper for those delightful drinks. Show your team spirit or settle on a holiday theme, or use up scraps that are plaguing your yarn stash.
Gauge is not too important, but you might want to make sure your hat will fit the mugs, glasses or cups you plan to cover before you invest too much time into the knitting. This pattern accounts for the stretchy nature of the knit to cover about anything in the standard drink vessels, but if your mugs are larger than normal or your glasses have a special drinking lid, you might want to make the hat larger to prevent stretching the stitches so far that holes are created for the gnats to find their way through.
Choose yarns that won’t drop fibers into your beverages! This is not a problem I encountered, yet, but please consider it before knitting.
