This short-row mat is from the U.S. monthly magazine Needlecraft, January 1916, published in Maine and New York. It’s just slightly more complicated than my Easy Short-row Mat. 4 rows are worked repeatedly with small changes to make a wedge, then 5 more wedges are worked to finish the mat.
The mat is 10” in diameter at gauge and can be blocked into a circle or a hexagon. It took me about 4.5 hours to make this mat.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, double YO, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.
Optional: provisional cast on

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
