Short Story
Sometimes we read long novels and we have a good deal of time to ponder how the story will end. Sometimes the ending is predictable and other times it is a surprise. At other times, we read short stories that have a quick ending for a little instant gratification.
During the design process of my Surprise Ending scarf I crocheted up various endings for the scarf. About midway through the design process of Surprise Ending scarf I noticed that one ending I tried would make a great cowl. So that is how I came up with my Short Story cowl, with a bandana cowl shape.
Short Story starts with a few stitches at one tip and ends with a few stitches at the other tip, and has a variant of the same stitch pattern, but a quick ending that makes a wide decorative scalloped edge on one side of the cowl.
For my two cowls I used Malabrigo Sock (440 yards/100 grams) in the colors “Aniversario” and “Indiecita”. With the a size F hook and consistent correct gauge you should be able to make three cowls with one skein of Malabrigo Sock yarn. And, you can make one Short Story cowl in just a few hours, making this cowl perfect for gifting!
Think of this also as a great scrap-using project. Short Story is the perfect project to use up all those small leftover balls of light fingering weight yarn that you might have. You will need about 33 grams for one cowl.
