Beach Baby Blues for 14” - 15” Soft Body Baby Doll:

This outfit gets your doll ready for summer! Cute shorts, top and a sunhat will have them beach-ready in no time. The top is worked in one piece from the top down, and seamed at the back. A piece of yarn, a yarn twist, or a small piece of ribbon woven through the top tightens up the neck after the blouse is on the doll. The shorts are worked from the bottom up; they can be done as pictured, or done completely in seed stitch. They are also seamed in the back. The sunhat brim is done in seed stitch, so it looks the same on both sides.

This pattern was designed for a 14” or 15” baby doll such as American Girl Bitty Baby®, Corolle Mon Bebe Classique®, Madame Alexander® 14” doll, or a Baby Stella® doll, as shown in the pictures. If you are knitting for a Madame Alexander® doll you can do the entire outfit with size 3 needles for a better fit. I would recommend at least doing the body of the hat with size 3 needles, as the Madame Alexander’s head is significantly smaller than the other dolls.

Most of my designs are done with straight needles, and Caron Simply Soft Light Yarns. They are soft and durable; since these clothes are designed to be played with, I want them to be machine washable, yet look nice and feel soft. Every thing is worked flat in one piece, and pulls on with no extra fasteners needed. One skein of yarn is sufficient for this outfit.
