Sibelle is my second crochet pattern, and a sister to Etheria. Like all great sisters, they are wildly different (color, construction) and yet related in many ways (chains! picots! lace!). If Etheria is entry level, Sibelle is the next step in complexity, though definitely well within the grasp of the intermediate crocheter or the intrepid advanced beginner. Instructions are both written and charted. The sample is worked in Shalimar Yarns Paulie, a luxurious blend of merino wool, silk, camel, and cashmere, in a fingering weight. Paulie comes in a beautiful array of colors.

Each Sibelle Motif is 5” / 12.5 cm square without border, after blocking.

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it is necessary to check gauge if you do not have significant excess yarn to compensate for any gauge variances. The pattern is suitable for a range of yarn weights, but the yardage given is calculated using fingering weight yarn. Finished size and required yardage will vary with gauge and yarn weight.

construction
Each Sibelle Motif is worked individually in the round. Each motif is joined to the previous one on one side as the final round of the second motif is worked. The last motif is joined to the preceding motif and to the first motif. Once the final motif has been worked, a picot border is crocheted around each edge.
