The textured stitches and the colour choice found in the “Side Slit Sweater” took inspiration from costume details worn in my native region in Germany, giving traditional features of combined textures and long rows of elaborate buttonholes a modern twist. It can be worn with open or closed side slits.

The fabric consists of 3 different textures: vertical ribs, horizontal ribs and moss stitch, and some of these are arranged in stranded colour work. 2 yarn strands are held together apart from the i-cord which surrounds the hems and is looped into buttonholes along the hem and sleeve hem slits. I added a doubled curl edging to the collar and white horn buttons for the loop closures, which are backed with mother-of-pearl buttons to avoid pulling.

Sizes come in S (88 cm chest circumference), M (95 cm) and L (105 cm), and 10 cm are added for positive ease.

This sweater brims with detail and is not a “quick knit”, therefore I would recommend it to advanced knitters. Each step is thoroughly explained in the instructions, and I am happy to help with any questions.

Happy knitting!
