Sidebar is a garter stitch crescent scarf designed to showcase the speckled gradient of Nightfall yarn. It’s worked from end to end with very simple short row edging that incorporates a contrasting color. You’ll need a scale to determine when to change from one shaping stage to another and make sure that you use your full skein of Nightfall. You can expect to use a little more than half of the Coordinates skein, or you could use up leftovers from another project; allow 150yds of light fingering weight yarn to be sure you’ll have enough.

This pattern is very simple and would be suitable for a beginner who is ready to take the next step. The short rows don’t involve any wrap-and-turn or other techniques - you just turn your work and keep going.

Finished dimensions of the model shown after blocking are: 66” wingspan, and 13.75” at the widest part. Because you use weight to determine when to change from one shaping stage to another, this pattern could easily be adjusted to use whatever yardage you have to work with.

Kits for Sidebar are now available on fibrofibers.com! The kits include all the yarn you’ll need but please buy the pattern here on Ravelry so that it’s conveniently stored in your library.
