This is a quick project that makes a fun and unusual scarf. Any machine at all may be used but it is certainly faster on a punch card or electronic that will select the tuck stitch automatically. Because the scarf is a double layer of fabric, standard gauge machines can actually make very warm scarves. The bulky version will be quite thick. I think it best to select 2 colors in a yarn that knits at the middle of the dial or a bit below. The scarf will come out in the 43-46” length range, depending on the particular yarn used. It is about 4” wide. But if you want it to be wider, simply add to the number of tuck rows. Any gauge of knitting will work. Before beginning, swatch both stockinette and tuck. You will need to know the row gauge for both. Stitch gauge is immaterial. Loose cast on and bind off are critical to the design as the tuck stitch must be allowed to expand width-wise.
