We just love Sweet Grass Wool’s lofty, soft, and lightweight Mountain Silk DK yarn! It’s precisely the texture and feel of this yarn that inspired this design. In the high desert, spring is often comprised of warm days and cold evenings, so this cowl fits the bill as the perfect shoulder-season neck warmer. This cowl features a simple garter stitch pattern, rapid increases, short-row shaping, and a border of Shell Lace that adds a little bit of elegance to the cowl.

The name is inspired by the stunning sunsets that we are lucky to have in Reno on an almost daily basis. The evening sky is often painted with colors of coral and pink as the sun sinks over the mountains. The “Ember” color we chose for this cowl is reminiscent of that sky. The softly curving lace pattern mimics the natural curvature of the mountains while the fluffy wool yarn is as lofty as the clouds that gather in the sky above. In short, this yarn is the perfect fit for this mountain inspired knit!
