Sierraville Mitts & Cowl
The Sierraville Mitts & Cowl celebrate the changing seasons in the Sierra Valley, as the hot days of late summer turn into autumn. Slip-stitch patterns recreate the feel of the seasonal dry California underbrush, the east and west winds, and the wings of our elusive nighttime visitor, the Hawk Moth. The slip-stitch motifs may look intricate, but they are actually quite simple to knit. Only one color is used per round, so there’s no need to carry two strands of yarn at once, and the progression of patterns keeps the knitting flying along.
Worked in fingering-weight yarn. The design uses a main color and three contrasting colors. In the pattern you’ll find instructions for selecting a color palette similar to the sample, or you can create something uniquely you. Yardage requirements for the contrasting colors are low, so it’s a great opportunity to use those bits from stash to create new combinations.
The pattern download contains both the Mitt and the Cowl patterns, as well as instructions for working a speed swatch to quickly test color combinations.
