Silent Knits Christmas Stockings
These Christmas Stockings hold a very dear place in my heart. As a child, I would look at my grandmother’s mantel at Christmas time which had hand-knit fair isle Christmas Stockings surrounded by bows of pine and giant pine cones, and I thought, “ This is what Christmas feels like.” After Gigi’s passing I learned how to do stranded color work, which is one of the few things in knitting that I didn’t learn directly from her, and decided to surprise my parents with their own set of Christmas stockings in Gigi’s honor on their first Christmas at Highfield, their house in New Hampshire that is neighbors with and named after the house that my grandparents lived in during my childhood.
These stockings were adored by my friends and family on Facebook and inspired me to start my company Silent Knits, with its very first product of customizable Christmas Stockings. As my company has grown I no longer offer them, but the name has stuck, and as I began to write patterns, I decided to give a tribute back to the origins of my company and to my grandmother and formally write the pattern. Without further ado, here are Silent Knits Christmas Stockings, inspired By Ruth Rozelle.
This pattern includes charts to make your own winter themed customize-able stockings there are over a million combinations that they can be knit into for everyone from Grandma to the family pet. It also included the entire alphabet so your stockings can have your name on it.
