Siletz Lace Strip
I modified a no-name, no-image lace pattern from ca. 1875 The Lady’s Book of Knitting and Crochet, p.86 by working just the last 2 rows of the pattern. Siletz (sill-LETZ), Oregon is a beautiful small city with more trees than houses! There are only 2 pattern rows and the wrong-side row is all purl except for the 2 selvage stitches. Each 12-stitch repeat is just under 1.5” wide at gauge. It’ll take 1 hour to make about 4” of a 38-stitch strip.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, yarn over, SSK, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
30 yards of #10 crochet thread will make about 10 inches of a 38-stitch strip in the stated gauge.
