Quickly worked up and a pair in the ladies size can just be squeezed out of a single 50g ball of Noro Silk Garden. Be sure to work a gauge swatch in the round, and pull apart once counted so you can use the wool for the mitts.
There is a great tutorial on a sneaky way of knitting up a faux-circular swatch on Winwick Mum’s lovely blog http://winwickmum.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/sockalong-tensi...
Keep your tails short when casting on, casting off and adding to the thumb - you will be left with only 2-3 metres of wool, and won’t want to run out ;)
