Silken Saguaro Cactus
The Saguaro is a long-lived cactus native to the Sonoran Desert of North America. It is highly revered and protected in its home range. This pattern pays homage to the very unique plant and the people who love it.
The pattern creates a cactus 3.5-4 inches tall, with a hole in the top perfect for a string loop or wire hanger. This pattern has been tested with multiple weights and fibers and produces consistent results, as long as medium to medium-tight tension is maintained and hook size is increased in proportion to the yarn.
It works up quickly and finishes well in a variety of fibers and/or colors. Its versatility and low yardage make it an excellent candidate for scrap-busting. The best results are achieved with smooth, natural fiber yarns.
It is worked in a total of 2 rows, with each row wrapping up one side and down the other. The second row includes both arms.
