Where fog rolls, hinges creak and spiders dwell, these silken fingerless gloves beckon to be worn. Subtle and spooky, and as fun to wear as they are to look at. A bit of cabling and charting for the spider, and lots of easy reverse stockinette stitch for most of the body. A nod to formal points on the glove turn into whisps of hanging web and recede into the cuffs.
Fingering yarn in a silk-merino blend makes these strong and durable for busy hands, warm, lightweight and so luxuriously soft. These gloves are made for Halloween, ghastly mansions and chilly weather!
You’ll need to know (or learn) how to read a chart and do a few different types of increases and decreases, simple 2 stitch cabling, and a couple other techniques. Outside of the spider, it’s just lots of purling and knitting! (And yes, the spider is my original design!)
Yarn: half a skein of fingering weight yarn should be plenty!
Featured yarn: Silky Mulberry Merino in colorway Rolling Fog
Needles: US 2.5/3.0mm double points or 32” circular needles
Notions: cable needle, tapestry needle, a few stitch markers, embroidery floss or scrap yarn for decorative “x” on spider belly (optional)
