Frilly yarn isn’t just for silly scarves! This quick and easy knit evokes retro petal hats and latex swim caps rom the 1960s. It’s so stretchy that just two sizes will fit newborns to adults.

You can use any ruffling yarn paired with any sock yarn you’d like. You will need either 15 or 25 grams of sock yarn, and enough of your ruffling yarn to make 708 or 1205 ruffles. The pattern contains a shortcut you can take if you suddenly feel you might not have enough ruffling yarn.

Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions for producing ruffles with your ruffling yarn. Some ruffling yarn is pre-spaced with regular ladders along the edge, making it a simple matter to calculate the number of ruffles you will get from one skein. Other ruffled yarns require you to work out the spacing
yourself as you knit; in that case please allow a margin of error when deciding how much of that type of yarn you will need.
