Silly Owl Brooch
I have always thought that even the most miniscule amounts of yarn will come in handy one day and as a result I have acquired a very big basketful of leftovers; just like most of you I expect! This is just a silly but fun pattern I designed as a way of using some of them up.
Generally I have used DK weight but sometimes I’ve used finer yarns and sometimes thicker, but I always use a 3.0mm hook.
The pattern uses US crochet terms and only basic crochet stitches are required including single crochet, increasing and decreasing. It gets a bit fiddly joining the wings but hopefully my notes explain this step well enough for you to complete your brooch. The tutorial gives full instructions as well as images.
When I was designing the pattern I got carried away and ended up crocheting a whole parliament of owls; 16 to be precise! Before I’d finished one I was rummaging in my basket for colours for the next. I hope you might get a bit carried away too … x
The PDF pattern is an instant download and once you get started I’m here to help if you need it.
