My family does things a little differently. As adults, the winter holidays have morphed into a time of silliness, complete with a festive hat competition. This pattern is from my entry – an absurdly long, very festive Santa hat.

This hat makes great use of the striped yarn you purchased for Christmas socks that you ran out of time to knit. It can be knit with or without a contrasting brim and pompom, or knit it all with leftover bits of festive sock yarns. Change the number of rounds between decrease rounds to change the overall length, add a bell or other embellishment to the end, and enjoy your unique, silly Santa hat.

I hope that this hat helps fill your winter holidays with laughter and joy.
