Most often I find inspiration for my designs when I am out in the nature, hiking in the forest or along the seaside.
But there is no rule without exceptions.
This particular time I designed the Silver Boulevard vest pattern when walking down the H.C. Andersen Boulevard in Copenhagen this summer. It was SO hot and one of my sisters and I were struggling down the loooong and slightly curved boulevard with no energy to talk, only walk. And suddenly a design was taking shape in my brain..

So, here it is; a very simple and easy vest-pattern with some extra details to make it fun to work and flattering to wear.

Construction
The vest is worked bottom-up and seamlessly.

Design elements
The hem of the front and back are split on the sides, the hem of the back being longer than the hem of the front (this is, of course, optional).
The curved/biased rib-pattern of the front, following the vest beautifully from the cast-on until the shoulder.
The rib-pattern is also used along the armholes on the back.
Crew-neck.
Rolled edges in stockinette sts for the armholes and neckline.

Sizes
Finished chest measurements.
82/90/96/104/111/118/125/133/140/147/154 cm = 32/35/38/41/43.5/46.5/49/52/55/58/61”. The sample is worked in size 2, with approximately 7.5 cm/3” of positive ease.
I recommend 0 – 10 cm = 0 – 4” of positive ease.

Materials
Yarn: I used 2 fingering weight yarns held together to work the vest: Isagers Alpaca 1 and Silk Mohair.
I recommend that you choose two fingering weight yarns that work well together to work the vest, one of them being a silk mohair. You may also use one strand of a worsted weight yarn that works to gauge.
Yarn 1: Isagers Alpaca 1, in the colour 3sLjusgrå, comes in balls of 50 gr/1.76 oz and 400 m/437 yards. Yarn 2: Isagers Silk Mohair, in the colour 3sGrå, comes in balls of 25 gr/0.88 oz and 212 m/232 yards. You will need 400/450/500/550/600/650/700/750/800/850/900 m = 440/495/550/600/660/710/770/825/880/930/990 yards of each yarn quality.
Needle size 3.5 mm/US4 for the hem and rolled edges,
4 mm/US6 for the main body.

Gauge
22 sts and 28 - 30 rows/rounds in stockinette sts =
10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”.

The pattern
The biased pattern and rib-pattern of front and back are written out round-by-round/row-by-row.
There is a schematic.
The measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches.
