This simple pattern is knitted flat, on 2 needles.

Knitted bottom up, with a double brim for firmness.

Decorated with two decorative flowers (I used 4ply chenille for a luxuriant bloom).

Any Aran weight yarn would be suitable.

The pattern is very straightforward and suitable for a novice knitter.
