Silver White Winters
This is what happens when a sweater and a song get stuck in your head on a walk through the snowy woods. That, and your favorite dyer releases a new mohair-silk base. Cozy and perfect as a silvery winter’s day or whiskers on kittens. It’s your new favorite thing.
The top-down, drop shoulders require zero finishing (!) and are shaped with short rows to minimize underarm bulk, while the stunning, all-over cable pattern is way easier than it looks (you only have to cable every 10th row!).
The fabric is worked with the fingering yarn and mohair-silk laceweight held together to a DK gauge, and it’s intended to be worn with anywhere from 1-3” of positive ease and is #sizeinclusive Because the cable pattern has a lot of stretch to it, there’s also additional flexibility in the fit.
Stitches for the stockinette sleeves are picked up from around the armscye and worked down to the hem, but if you prefer to knit them separately and seam them in, that would be pretty easy (since it’s not a set-in sleeve).
A tutorial for the lifted increase and the cables used in the pattern is right here.
Gauge:
21sts & 28 rows/4” (after blocking) in stockinette stitch and 23 sts & 28 rows/4” (after blocking) in the cable pattern (slightly stretched) on a size 5 needle (or size to achieve gauge) with both yarns held together. Yours may vary, but my PRE-BLOCKING gauges were 21.5 sts/4” in stockinette and 24 sts/4” in the cable pattern. The cable pattern is quite stretchy and can be blocked wider than the finished gauge if you desire.
