Silverbells Shawl
I wanted to design a heavier weight shawl that would be the perfect alternative to a scarf. The shawl is shawlette sized which makes it ideal for wrapping around your neck for instant warmth or to cover up bare shoulders in early or late summer. Silverbells Shawl was designed and knit using just 2 skeins of the Silky Merino, making it a quick knit either for yourself or as a gift.
Pattern includes both charted and written directions.
Note: I used almost all of my two skeins; please check gauge to ensure that you have enough yarn. If planning on making a larger shawl, definitely buy a third skein.
Materials:
Malabrigo Silky Merino 51% Silk, 49% Merino 50 g: 150 yds/137 m (2 skeins); color Azul Azul OR 300 yds/274.3 m of DK weight yarn
Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) straight or circular needle at least 32”/80 cm
Gauge: Measured in stitch pattern repeat from Chart A – Silverbells, after blocking.
17 sts and 18 rows = 4”/10 cm; 1.7 stitch patterns width & 1.1 stitch patterns length = 4”/10cm.
Finished Dimensions: 49.5”/126 cm wide and 22.5”/57 cm long at center points, after blocking
Note that exact measurements will vary slightly depending on gauge and how aggressively the shawl is blocked.
Notions: 2 stitch markers, blocking pins, yarn needle
